On November 20, 2009, the Ontario Superior Court accepted the arguments of Gerard Chouest and Tae Mee Park that the Montreal Convention jurisdictional rules are imperative and not affected by the concept of attornment
On November 19, 2009, Ioana Bala successfully argued an appeal before the Ontario Court of Appeal relating to the Reciprocal Enforcement of Judgments Act (Ontario).
On November 13, 2009, Janice Blackburn argued a series of motions relating to the lack of express detention authority and lack of residual authority to grant privileges given to a current detaining hospital by the Ontario Review Board, pending the transfer of an accused to a different hospital.

August 2009 - BJCTB has hired Chris Dearden as an associate lawyer. Chris was called to the bar in June after completing his articles at a large downtown Toronto firm. He was selected from over 100 applicants.

On June 16, 2009, Peter Jacobsen was elected to the Board of Canadian Journalists for Free Expression, an organization that defends the rights of journalists and contributes to the development of media freedom throughout the world.
On May 23, 2009, the Canadian Association of Journalists announced that a number of lawyers (including Peter Jacobsen, on behalf of the BJCTB media group) would receive the 2009 President's Award for outstanding contribution to Canadian journalism.
On May 22, 2009, Peter Jacobsen and Tae Mee Park represented The Globe and Mail (an intervenor) at the Supreme Court of Canada in National Post v. Her Majesty the Queen, a case relating to the protection of a journalist's confidential sources.
