Peter is a founding partner of the firm and has over 30 years experience in practice as a litigator and provider of legal advice.

Peter practices mainly in the areas of defamation law, administrative law, media law and constitutional law. He is a seasoned litigator and has significant experience in trials, appeals and judicial reviews at all levels of court and before numerous administrative tribunals.

Peter is rated as one of the best lawyers in Canada in the specialty of Defamation and Media Law in the 2008 edition of The Best Lawyers in Canada.

Completed Harvard mediation course (1996); Graduate Studies - Norman Paterson School of International Affairs, Carleton University (1972-1973); McGill University (B.A. Honours, 1972) (LL.B., 1976).

Peter provides regular pre-publication advice and litigation services to major media outlets including The Globe and Mail, CTV, CHUM, Corus Entertainment as well as many magazines / periodicals such as the Report on Business Magazine (ROB) and the Canadian Medical Association Journal (CMAJ), and publishers such as Random House, McClelland & Stewart, House of Anansi, Key Porter and Fenn books. He also represents individuals and editors as well as national organizations such as the Canadian Association of University Teachers (CAUT) and Canadian University Press (CUP).

Peter has participated in several pivotal cases that have advanced freedom of expression in Canada involving libel and slander issues, free press rights, access to courts, publication bans, sealing orders and subpoenas to journalists and editors. He has also appeared in several significant cases at the Supreme Court of Canada.
